QI Education Program Opportunity Now Open 

ATLANTA (Sept. 25, 2025) — The Arthritis Foundation and the Pediatric Rheumatology – Care and Outcomes Improvement Network (PR-COIN) are excited to announce a quality improvement (QI) education opportunity for current PR-COIN pediatric rheumatology fellows. Targeted to those in their first and second year of a fellow program, this opportunity brings together progressive QI learning, application of skills and QI project mentorship to advance improvement projects and develop crucial QI knowledge, skills and abilities. This opportunity is designed to develop pediatric rheumatology trainees to become thoughtful and inclusive improvement leaders.   

The Arthritis Foundation/PR-COIN QI Education Program for Pediatric Rheumatology Fellows is a yearlong quality improvement training program designed to support up to six rheumatology trainees in advancing QI skills. Fellows will gain QI knowledge and apply learned skills directly through local and/or PR-COIN network-wide improvement projects.  

Participating fellows will present their work at a PR-COIN Learning Session (or other PR-COIN meeting, depending on logistics and best fit for the QI project) at the end of the program, with travel support included. It is expected that fellows will submit project-derived abstracts, poster presentations, conference/learning session presentations and/or peer-reviewed journal articles.   

This program provides fellows with an excellent opportunity to gain critical QI skills valuable in advancing improvement activities and developing leadership skills beneficial to overall career advancement.   

What are the goals of the Arthritis Foundation/PR-COIN QI Education Program for Pediatric Rheumatology Fellows?  

Fellows who complete this program will gain critical QI and leadership skills that will enable them to lead QI projects and contribute to their career advancement.  

What activities are part of the fellowship program?  

Fellows will attend QI training sessions and select a project to apply and refine their QI abilities. Fellows will present their final projects during a PR-COIN Learning Session at the end of the program. It is expected that the final project will be submitted as abstracts, poster presentations, conference/learning session presentations and/or peer-reviewed journal articles.
