Mycophenolic sodium
Drug Name(s): Myfortic

Type: Immunosuppressant
This immunosuppressant medication is FDA-approved to prevent organ transplant rejection. It is used off-label to treat a number of rheumatic diseases, including lupus, lupus nephritis, vasculitis, uveitis and scleroderma-related interstitial lung disease, especially in those who can’t take corticosteroids.
Dosage
Form(s): enteric-coated (delayed-release) tablet
720 to 1,080 mg twice daily; varies by disease
Special Instructions
Do not take if pregnant, breastfeeding, or if you may become pregnant. Men must use a condom.
Potential Side Effects
Increased risk of serious infection; rash or hives; bloody stools; vision changes; drowsiness; fatigue; trouble sleeping; constipation; diarrhea; nausea; vomiting
