LANTA, GA (June 9, 2025) — Throughout May’s Arthritis Awareness Month, the Arthritis Foundation partnered with local artists in 13 major cities across the U.S. to create free art inspired by the Foundation’s Green Heart — a powerful symbol of support, resilience and connection for the millions of people living with arthritis. Each Friday, a unique piece of Green Heart-inspired art was placed in a public space in each city for the community to discover and claim. On the final Friday of May, the Foundation unveiled a unique art installation at its national headquarters in Atlanta, created by participating artist and creator of Tiny Doors ATL, Karen Anderson Singer. The Foundation’s Tiny Door is a lasting symbol of the Arthritis Foundation’s unwavering support of the arthritis community and commitment to raising public awareness about the profound impact of the disease on daily life for the adults, teens and children living with the disease in the U.S.
Green Heart Fridays showcased the creativity of artists from across the country as they shared their artistic interpretation of Green Heart. Artists worked in the medium of their choice and created watercolor paintings, greeting cards, arthritis-friendly mugs and more. Those fortunate enough to find the art pieces were encouraged to post about their find on social media using the hashtag #GreenHeartFridays. Throughout the month, the Foundation’s social media followers and the artists’ fans posted and shared thoughtful comments about the activation. Local media in Atlanta, Boston, Kansas City, Los Angeles, San Francisco and more shared the inspiring Green Heart Fridays story throughout the month, amplifying the impact of the social media campaign.
"We are so proud to install this ‘tiny door’ as a symbol of the doors we open for people with arthritis," said Steven Taylor, President and CEO of the Arthritis Foundation. “Arthritis Awareness Month is a time to raise awareness of the devastating impact the disease can have on the lives of patients — such as loss of mobility and independence — and it’s also about uniting and inspiring the arthritis community. Everything we do at the Arthritis Foundation is to help the millions of people living with arthritis — the patients, the caregivers, the families of babies diagnosed as young as three months old.”
The new Tiny Door at the Arthritis Foundation’s headquarters symbolizes the Foundation’s mission to educate and empower, fund research and advocate for policies that support the nearly 60 million people in the U.S. living with arthritis.
