Used to prevent post-menopausal osteoporosis
Dosage
Form(s): tablet, patch
Activella, Premphase, Prempro (tablets): 0.625 mg daily in a single dose
Climara Pro: 1 patch daily delivers 0.045 mg estradiol and 0.015 mg levonorgestrel
Special Instructions
Apply patches to clean, dry skin of lower stomach area.
Take tablets at the same time each day with a glass of water.
Potential Side Effects
Stomach bloating; breast pain; increased breast size; nausea; feet and lower legs swelling; weight gain
Be Aware
Women who have not had a hysterectomy should take estrogen with progesterone. Before taking this drug, talk to your doctor about the possible risk of heart disease, breast or uterine cancer, blood clots and other side effects.
