Directions
- Coconut water with or without pulp works here. Note that coconut water should be almost transparent but can range in color from clear to pinkish.
- Although precut frozen mango saves work and pain for those with tender joints, fresh mango also works well. You can also substitute fresh or frozen strawberries for a more daiquiri-like flavor, or fresh or frozen pineapple to make it more like a piña colada. If you use fresh fruit, serve the drink over ice, as a cold agua fresca really is best!
- Some prefer strained agua fresca, which results in a more transparent, thinner drink. If you prefer, you can strain this through a fine-mesh strainer before serving, but note that it will only make about one and a half servings that way.
- To turn this into a tropical smoothie, add 1 cup Greek yogurt and 1 ripe banana before blending.
