Voclosporine

Drug Name(s): Lupkynis

Class: Immunosuppresants

Used to treat lupus nephritis.

Dosage

Form(s): capsule

Recommended starting dose: 23.7 mg orally, twice a day, in combination with mycophenolate mofetil and corticosteroids. Dose may be adjusted.

Special Instructions

Swallow capsule whole on an empty stomach. Do not take with cyclophosphamide or eat grapefruit or drink grapefruit juice while taking this drug.

Potential Side Effects

Abdominal pain; anemia; cough; decreased appetite; decreased glomerular filtration rate; diarrhea; fatigue; hair loss; headache; hypertension; kidney toxicity; mouth sores; stomach upset; tremor; urinary tract infection

Be Aware

Your doctor will regularly monitor your glomerular filtration rate (eGFR)  a test that shows how well your kidneys are filtering  while  you take this drug, and adjust your dose based on the results.

This drug can cause serious side effects, including increased risk of lymphoma, skin and other cancers and serious infections. Before taking this drug tell your health care provider about your medical conditions, including liver, kidney or heart problems or high blood pressure.

Tell your doctor if you are or might become pregnant or breastfeed.
