Anifrolumab

Class: Biologics

Type: Interferon Agonist

Used for the treatment of lupus.

Dosage

Form(s): infusion

300 mg as an intravenous infusion over a 30-minute period every 4 weeks.

Special Instructions

Women of childbearing age should use effective contraception during treatment.

Avoid initiating treatment during an active infection.

Potential Side Effects

Bronchitis, cough, herpes zoster, infusion-related infections, upper respiratory tract infections

Be Aware

Serious and sometimes fatal infections have occurred in patients receiving this drug. Speak with your doctor about advisability of treatment if you have a severe or chronic infection. Ask about interrupting treatment if you develop and infection while receiving anifrolumab. Serious hypersensitivity reactions including anaphylaxis and angioedema have been reported. This drug may increase the risk of certain cancers. Speak with your doctor about your risk factors for malignancy before starting this drug. Do not have live or live-attenuated vaccines while receiving anifrolumab.
