Telling the Arthritis Foundation's Story
You have 20 seconds to make the case for why the Arthritis Foundation. What do you say? From convincing a prospect that he/she should volunteer to explaining why a local company should be a sponsor, there is an easy three-part equation setting up your "pitch."
Remove Barriors to Improve Access
A shortage of pediatric rheumatologists in the U.S. – 11 states have none, and seven states have only one.
A bill making pediatric rheumatologists eligible for the National Health Service Corps (NHSC) – provides scholarship and loan repayment in exchange for service in underserved areas.
[To Congress] Cosponsor H.R.1859 and S.2782 to increase access to these physicians.
Peer & Community Connections
Arthritis is isolating and sometimes family members and friends don’t understand the pain and limitations associated with the disease.
Connecting with others who face the same challenges instills hope and empowerment. The Live Yes! Connect Groups offer adult, peer-led networking and support groups providing connection and education for those looking to meet others who share their interests and face similar challenges.
[To constituents] If you would like to start or co-lead a Live Yes! Connect Group in your area, please complete the Connect Facilitator Application Form to get started.
Offering Personaized Guidance
A diagnosis of a childhood rheumatic disease can make parents feel powerless.
The Foundation’s JA Power Pack is a toolkit with information and for newly-diagnosed children and their parents. The pack includes materials for parents and a bear or wrap that provides hot or cold treatment to soothe achy joints.
[To doctors] “Prescribe” the JA Power Pack to their patients.
Funding the Mission & Attracting Supporters
Even though arthritis is the #1 cause of disability in the U.S., there is a lack of understanding of the disease and awareness of its effects.
For more than 30 years, the Jingle Bell Run has engaged communities to raise awareness and funds to find better treatments and a cure.
