Nancy's Story
With a master’s in anatomy, Nancy used her education to research her disease – RA. Now, as part of the Foundation’s Live Yes! Connect Network, she’s helping build an arthritis community.
Nancy Sears was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) 20 years ago. It was never a mild case. It was always aggressive, and she lived on steroids until biologics became available. She has tried almost every new medicine over the years to combat her disease.
With a master’s in anatomy, Nancy has used her education to research and understand the physiology of RA and its treatments. She started volunteering with her local Arthritis Foundation office over two years ago. She enjoys being a part of the juvenile arthritis events and helps the local arthritis community any way she can. She recently became a facilitator for the Live Yes! Connect Group and is also the Live Yes! Network Leader chair for the Oklahoma City Arthritis Foundation.
She has fought a good fight against arthritis. While it has not been easy and Nancy recognizes that it takes friends, family, professionals and understanding to know what to do when faced with a diagnosis of arthritis, she is immensely hopeful for the future.
