Dr. Bico's Story
As an orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Bicos treats patients with arthritis every day and knows how it changes people’s lives. Simple things like using the stairs or playing with kids can cause pain.
As an orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Bicos sees arthritis every day in his office. “Arthritis doesn’t care how old you are, what your nationality is or your race,” he says. “It affects everyone, and it is one of the most difficult things to treat.”
As an assistant professor at Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine and in teaching the residents and fellows at William Beaumont Department of Orthopedics, Dr. Bicos is involved in multiple national cartilage regeneration trials. He and his team perform the latest cartilage restoration techniques from stem cell treatments to growing and implanting a patient’s own cartilage cells.
