Amy's Story
Many things Amy enjoyed doing throughout her life have been impacted by her arthritis. Simple things like cooking a family meal are now difficult for her to execute. She has learned not to overdo it.
Amy has lived much of her life suffering from arthritis. She has always led an active lifestyle. Injuries from gymnastics and horseback riding led to the development of her arthritis. For the past decade, Amy has also been battling fibromyalgia.
Many of the things Amy has enjoyed doing throughout her life have been impacted by her arthritis. Simple things like cooking a family meal are now difficult for her to execute. She has learned not to overdo it or allow herself to get burned out. But through the pain, the good days and the bad ones, she does not let her arthritis get the best of her.
Amy wants others to be aware that just because you may look healthy on the outside, doesn’t mean you are feeling well internally. She asks others not to judge a book by its cover. Whether it’s the stares that come from strangers when she uses a handicap parking permit or comments about how she doesn’t look sick, Amy often feels judged. Her goal is to help others understand the how arthritis impacts even small things.
