Drug Class:Uric acid drugs
200 mg tablet once daily in combination with a xanthine oxidase inhibitor, such as allopurinol (Zyloprim) or febuxostat (Uloric).
Potential Side EffectsHelp
Gastroesophageal reflux disease, headache, influenza. May decrease renal (kidney) function; may increase the risk of a major cardiovascular event.
- Drink plenty of fluids while taking this medication.
- Gout flares may increase in the first 3 months after starting this drug. Do not stop treatment even if you have more attacks. Your doctor may give you other medications to help manage flares.
- Take with breakfast.
