POSITION SUMMARY (Basic purpose or primary function of job)

The Senior Director, Corporate Partnerships is accountable for initiating and managing relationships with national corporations, with the goal of increasing revenue and increasing awareness of the Arthritis Foundation.  Key focus areas include the Foundation’s Ease of Use program, Live Yes! Arthritis Network and the cultivation of relationships in the grocery/convenience store category.

In achieving this goal, the individual will 1) identify and initiate contact with new non-endemic companies; 2) develop presentations, proposals and corporate fund raising promotional concepts that are complimentary to the goals of the Arthritis Foundation and the sponsor; 3) secure new revenue; 4) manage a portfolio of existing companies and 4) coordinate the implementation of programs once they are accepted by a corporation. 

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES (Principal responsibilities or job duties)

  • Develops and manages relationships with key personnel at national corporations to achieve the following: a) unrestricted and project income; b) increased awareness of the Arthritis Foundation; and c) increased distribution of Arthritis Foundation services and materials. 
  • Develops network of key decision-makers at major corporations, trade associations and service providers/agencies to facilitate the optimum co-marketing results.
  • Develops strategies and plans to grow support from grocery/convenience stores and for the Ease of Use program and positioning it as a point of marketing difference for companies.
  • Designs, promotes and implements new sponsorship ideas that support the Foundation and the Live Yes! Arthritis Network.
  • Coordinates with the key departments to accomplish fund raising and Foundation business objectives and to fulfill the mutually agreed upon Foundation-wide business commitments for corporate sponsorship. 
  • Develops & proposes ideas to upsell existing accounts, obtaining new sponosors through innovative initiatives and secures funding for initiatives deemed appropriate by the Vice President, Corporate Partnerships. 
  • Works closely with local offices and volunteers in securing new corporate sponsorships and business opportunities.  Provides leadership and lends business development expertise to chapters to assist in accessing and increasing local corporate donations.  Contributes time and knowledge to internal training and education programs as a leader/presenter.
  • Works closely with Partnership team to insure corporate sponsor (customer) satisfaction and to help increase unrestricted revenue through meeting anticipated sponsor needs.
  • As deemed appropriate by the Vice President, Corporate Partnerships, serves on committees and on cross-functional work teams as appropriate to provide link between Arthritis Foundation objectives and corporate sponsor objectives/opportunities.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing/communications or related field;
  • Eight years’ experience in direct sales to Fortune 500 companies on a national level required.
  • Proven ability to define, target and develop account relationships with the objective of maximizing fund raising potential from a corporate source. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills as well as the ability to present creative concepts and close business at high levels within a corporation.
  • Proactive sales mindset as well as the ability to effectively manage multiple accounts.  Pharmaceutical sales experience a plus.
  • Experience/understanding of the non-profit environment
  • Excellent written/oral communication skills and computer skills. (PowerPoint, Excel, Word)
  • Ability to work under the pressure of multiple deadlines is essential
