Region Vice President

Location: Los Angeles, California


The Region Vice President is responsible for the oversight and management of the Foundation’s strategic plan for an assigned region. The Region Vice President is accountable to the Senior Vice President, Field Management for planning and directing income development and mission within the assigned area. The Region Vice President provides leadership and direction to assigned field offices, ensures compliance with organizational standards, and displays a laser-like focus on revenue development with the expectation of exceeding fundraising objectives.  


Within the Foundation

The Region Vice President works closely with the Senior VP Field Management, Executive Directors, the VP Market Development, Senior Development Directors, Development Directors, Development Managers, Community Engagement Directors, Market Relations Coordinators, CRM support representatives and other leadership in all areas of the Foundation, including Marketing and Communications, SLT members, and the Help & Support team.  

Outside the Foundation

 The Region Vice President provides strategic leadership and oversight for the Executive Directors, and VP Market Development in their assigned Market Area to ensure the consistent standards are maintained for recruiting, training, and development of key volunteers and volunteer leadership, ensure that Exec Directors are developing and maintaining relationships with business leaders, corporate worksites, Greek fraternal organizations, and others throughout the assigned Region, various Market Areas, and the communities within the assigned Region.


Responsibility #1

Team Building

    •  Focuses on attracting and growing a high-performing team of Executive Directors and volunteer partners within local markets, and builds an exceptional “people pipeline” of new talent and future organizational leaders
    • Ensures that key leadership positions are filled at the market level, and builds a robust base of dynamic Leadership Boards by recruiting a strong slate of Board Chairs
    • Increases the number of productive and effective volunteers in the region, and serves as the primary relationship manager for top tier relationships with major donors, corporate partners, liaisons to national partners, etc
    • Coaches and mentors staff to excel on the job and meet key accountabilities.

    • Leads volunteers and staff to accomplish strategic objectives, identifying and remedying staff weaknesses and filling gaps when needed in order to ensure success
    • Creates an environment where volunteers and staff are committed to achieving both business and team goals
    • Acts as a positive catalyst or agent for change and innovation – inspiring, engaging, influencing, motivating, mentoring and guiding others toward the goal
    • Measures results frequently and takes steps needed to proactively solve problems and ensure success.
    • Builds an atmosphere within the region that fosters breakthrough innovation in thinking and problem solving
    • Provides hand-on leadership and is actively engaged in the business at the market level.

Responsibility #3

Business Development & Planning

    • Analyzes opportunities and risks to move the business forward and formulates effective plans consistent with organizational priorities
    • Ensures strong results for signature events, WTCA and JBR/W, and that the region meets or exceeds annual controllable revenue goals
    • Oversees the preparation of an annual budget for the region that reflects strong year-over-year revenue growth and supports strategic delivery of signature mission activities
    • Allocates resources effectively to accomplish goals
    • Ensures compliance with organizational standards and policies.
  • All Other Duties As Assigned by SVP Field Management


    • Minimum of 5 years of progressive fundraising and management experience. Bachelor’s degree require
    • Demonstrated experience in the field with engaging local volunteers and executing fundraising activities at the market level is a mus
    • Proven track record of effective leadershi
    • In-depth knowledge of mission of the Arthritis Foundation ability to inspire commitment to it in others.
