Marketing Services Manager, Special Events & Volunteer Development | Atlanta, GA

POSITION SUMMARY (Basic purpose or primary function of job)

The Marketing Services Manager is responsible for the strategic planning, collaborative development, implementation, and day-to-day marketing duties of Special Events and volunteer development initiatives in support of the Arthritis Foundation’s strategic objectives. The Marketing Services Manager will work closely with VP, Senior Directors, Directors, Associate Directors, and key staff members to anticipate and plan marketing and communications support for Special Events and Volunteer Development Initiatives and establish accountability. In this role, the Marketing Services Manager will help to define and meet all key performance indicators and demonstrate end results as a measure of success. 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES (Principal responsibilities or job duties)

  1. Work with Special Events team to create a strategic marketing plan (including budget recommendations) that drives event awareness, registrations, and fundraising for Jingle Bell Run (JBR), Walk to Cure Arthritis (WTCA), Marquee Events, Do It Yourself fundraising (DIY) and other events as they arise via multiple marketing channels.
  2. Apply learnings from different events to continuously improve event to event and year to year.
  3. Develop, execute, and communicate about integrated national and local marketing initiatives for JBR, WTCA, Marquee Events, DIY and other events as they arise via multiple marketing channels.
  4. Lead collaboration between departments/groups (creative services, communications, public relations, CRM, direct response, corporate cause development and mission areas of the organization) to implement projects related to the JBR, WTCA, DIY and other nationally-led field programs as they arise. 
  5. Work with the special events and the marketing teams to establish performance measures, monitor results, evaluate effectiveness and proactively provide solutions to ensure revenue goal achievement. Review weekly fundraising reports, analyze the data and provide marketing insight on event tracking and projections.
  6. Work with Traffic, Production and third-party vendors to coordinate resources/collateral development and ftp uploads and communication for Special Events and Field opportunities.
  7. Track performance of marketing campaigns including overall analysis and reporting to ensure goal achievement to facilitate long range planning.
  8. Establish and facilitate communication and workflows for cross-functional teams engaged in event activities.
  9. Research events and programs of other non-profits (including trade websites and publications) to identify and recommend new ideas and share best practices and new ideas related to runs, walks and other special events.
  10. Manage the process to ensure synergy in communications and activities that happen in multiple departments (i.e., email and direct mail). Responsible for identifying, assembling, and organizing requirements and measures of success; developing schedules and assignments; and coordinating meetings.
  11. Assist in updating internal and external communications and provide materials for messaging posted throughout the building, including but not limited to the all name plaques, wall postings, bathroom communications, and building spaces.
  12. Manage the copy development for the website, emails and other prospect/participant/volunteer messaging as it arises.
  13. Work with the Operations team to facilitate workflow and communications between Field and national Special Events team, Volunteer Development initiatives, and the MarCom teams.
  14. Work with direct response team to develop new acquisition and retention strategies, messaging new, lapsed and current participants and volunteers.
  15. Ensure that field staff is aware of national communications plans and schedules lead to create synergy between local and national efforts to increase engagement by (potential) participants and do not overcommunicate.  Ensure a collaborative marketing approach for Live Yes Event participants pre and post meet-ups.
  16. Prepare marketing tools and training for staff and volunteers to enhance their capacity to effectively sell and execute on a local level. 
  17. Work with Senior Director of Volunteer Development & Field Management to create a strategic marketing plan, theme, and organizational messaging for Conference of Champions (CoC), developing Run of Show and scripting for general sessions, and managing the review process for all general ROS PPTs, general signage, breakout sessions.
  18. As part of CoC, coordinate with the MarCom team to manage website development, email, marketing to drive registration, conference app content and management.
  19. While onsite at CoC, lead rehearsal schedule, manage A/V process and serve as key point person.
  20. Support the Senior Director of Volunteer Development on Live Yes! Arthritis Network field-based marketing initiatives and activation.
  21. Work with the Senior Director of Volunteer Development on developing a volunteer-led organizational culture, providing marketing strategy and support for volunteer acquisition and retention, development of volunteer resources, and creating a robust volunteer infrastructure to support the network collaboratively to integrate JBR, WTCA, DIY, LYAN, and other programs into all Arthritis Foundation events (Advocacy Summit, JA Conference, Conference of Champions, etc.). 

 

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION

  1. B.A. in Communication, Marketing, Public Relations or related course of study; or related professional experience.
  2. Five+ years experience in marketing, agency client services, or business development, with evidence of successful marketing plan development and implementation.
  3. Strong work ethic, professional, well organized, independent, and a self-starter.
  4. A solutions-oriented, bright and enthusiastic team player.
  5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  6. Available to travel with advanced notice.
