Director of Marquee Events

Location: Atlanta, Georgia

Full Time | Exempt | Remote

POSITION SUMMARY (Basic purpose or primary function of job)

Director of Marquee Events will report to the VP, Special Events and Innovation and will be responsible for strategic planning, program design, training, resource development and sharing for field implemented Marquee fundraising events including Galas, Bone Bashes, Tribute Dinners and other ticketed events as identified. Shares accountability with Regional Vice Presidents for accomplishment of revenue goals of $9 million plus in Marquee events nationwide.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES (Principal responsibilities or job duties)

  1. Works collaboratively with RVPs, EDs and event staff to ensure Marquee event strategy is executed successfully.
  2. Work with the Field Leadership team to successfully implement site growth or expansion by assisting them to designate potential sites and determine opportunities across the regions.
  3. Refine and grow AF Top Tier Gala program.
  4. Participates as part of the interviewing process when needed and help onboard new local staff and provides training and support to new hires. 
  5. Providing coaching and performance feedback to team members as needed, in consultation and collaboration with RVPs or Eds.
  6. Fills in as able where staffing gaps exists.
  7. Provide analysis, data or reports on productivity and other performance indicators to management. 
  8. Identify benchmarks and proactively work raise up solutions to ensure revenue goal achievement by monitoring team and individual performance.
  9. Identify, develop and refine Marquee related program materials and resources including playbooks, toolkits, resources and training materials.
  10. Develop and implement Marquee event training program including new hire, annual event launches and on-going coaching/training through a variety of methods based on observations of staff and volunteers.
  11. Tracks performance of campaigns including analysis and reporting to ensure goal achievement and facilitate long range planning.
  12. Responsible for coordinating with all the internal partners engaged to develop marketing concepts, materials, online tools and social media resources.
  13. Ensure program design meets the standards of cost-effective fundraising, while maintaining an acceptable level of quality and return on investment.
  14. Meet established performance measures, monitor results and evaluate effectiveness.
  15. Develop, initiate and maintain productive, collaborative working relationships with key external partners, including but not limited to, sponsors, vendors, and professional groups
  16. Set and adhere to clear standards, guidelines, tools and practices. Ensure adherence to budgets, schedules, work plans, performance requirements, data standards and relationship documentation.
  17. Maintain up-to-date records and produce timely reports as needed.

 

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Business/Communications or related field plus four to six years of experience at the local, regional or national level in developing and implementing successful Marquee events.
  2. The ability to lead region staff and volunteers to improve upon the success of these events is essential.
  3. Exceptional consulting and influential skills.
  4. Interacts well with field staff and has experience working with volunteers.
  5. Ability to manage workload and timelines.
  6. Excellent oral and written communications skills.
