POSITION SUMMARY (Basic purpose or primary function of job)

The DevOps specialist is responsible for the managing operational support and maintenance of the Arthritis Foundation’s mission-critical cloud computing infrastructure. Responsibilities include cloud services provisioning and administration, security administration, business continuity/disaster recovery, performance optimization, and assuring reliability of third-party software in a cloud services environment.

This position will have the opportunity to work with many different cloud-based technologies and third-party applications. A passion for technology, a willingness to learn new things and adapt to a constantly changing environment are essential.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES (Principal responsibilities or job duties)

  1. Hands on experience with Azure and strong understanding of Azure capabilities and limitations
  2. Thorough understanding of Cloud Computing: virtualization technologies, Infrastructure as a Service, Platform as a Service and Software as a Service Cloud delivery models and the current competitive landscape
  3. Implement and support new and existing customers on Microsoft Azure infrastructure and Microsoft IaaS, and PaaS.
  4. Thorough understanding of infrastructure (firewalls, load balancers, hypervisor, storage, monitoring, security etc.)
  5. Knowledge of Azure services for Compute, Storage, Network and OS
  6. Knowledge of IaaS, PaaS, SaaS along with Private, Public and Hybrid Cloud technologies
  7. Knowledge of monitoring, logging and cost management tools that integrate with Azure
  8. An understanding of data archive/restore policies.
  9. Coordinate the work of vendors providing outsourced managed services

     

    REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION

    1. Computer Science degree or equivalent experience
    2. 5+ years of experience in a Systems Administrator / Engineer role.
    3. Minimum 2 years hands-on experience in Microsoft Azure.
    4. Experience with Microsoft Active Directory.
    5. Experience in the Azure components & APIs.
    6. Friendly customer service focused attitude
