Arthritis Foundation backs Wisconsin-led arthritis research projects
The Arthritis Foundation Upper Midwest Region is proud to announce its support for three local research projects within the Midwest. Two Wisconsin doctors have been chosen to receive funding to fuel arthritis research.
“Local environmental control of induced regulatory T-cell development,” a study being led by Christopher Mayne, Ph.D., of the Medical College of Wisconsin, has received a two year award for $50,000 each year with an additional one year renewal possible.
Brian Jubeck, M.D., also of the Medical College of Wisconsin, has been awarded a one year fellowship for $40,000 to focus on “Novel gout crystal promoters in osteoarthritis.”
Additionally, the Arthritis Foundation Upper Midwest Region has approved funding for “Enhancing Outcomes After Shoulder Arthroplasty,” led by Wendy Hurd, Ph.D., of the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.
Arthritis research funding is made possible by government grants and fundraising on behalf of the Arthritis Foundation. Money raised goes toward providing services and information to the 2.1 million people living with arthritis in the Upper Midwest Region (Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wisconsin).
