My name is Melody and I have a 13 year old son, Colton, who has arthritis. He was diagnosed with arthritis when he was 9 years old. He has been to countless doctor's appointments and on so many different medications over the years that I lost track of all of their names.
Every year, we participate in our local Arthritis Walk to raise awareness for kids like Colton. When we do fundraising for the Walk, it gives us a chance to let people know that kids get arthritis too. Arthritis is a debilitating disease that makes it almost impossible for children who have it to live a 'normal' childhood.
Participating in the Arthritis Walk is a great way to help raise awareness, and to raise funds for research so that hopefully a cure can be found. The more people that participate in the Walks, the closer we come to a cure and to people having a better understanding of the disease.
