One day in early May 2011, my life changed forever. I woke up that morning with my wrist extremely swollen and sore. This pain extended into other places in my body but no one in my hometown of Rivesville, West Virginia had any answers. After 2 long years, and 60 doctors' appointments, I was finally referred to a pediatric rheumatologist out of state since there are no practicing pediatric rheumatologists here. My diagnosis was clear. At age 11, I had juvenile arthritis.
During one of my doctor visits, I learned about the Arthritis Foundation and what they do to help the other 300,000 children like me and the over 52 million adults with arthritis. And although there are no practicing pediatric rheumatologists in West Virginia, the Arthritis Foundation is there for me and the other kids. They provide programs, fund research and advocate for public policies — all of which are aimed at improved lives for people like me.
I'm proud to say I have raised more than $5,000 for the Arthritis Foundation so that one day no one has to live with the pain and disability caused by arthritis. Will you join me in the fight to end arthritis and find a cure? Please make a year-end gift to the Arthritis Foundation.

I hope to help raise another $5,000 through this letter. I think we can do it together.Sincerely,
