8) IMMUNE SYSTEM AGES EARLY IN ARTHRITIS

These findings provide an important clue to the pathogenesis of autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis. Premature aging of the immune system and disturbed T cell numbers and functions would appear to play an important, fundamental role in the immune abnormalities that occur in these diseases.
