  • Ask what kind of assistance is available.
     
  • Take snacks or lunch on board if you anticipate difficulty getting on and off the bus for food stops or if you need to food with your medications.
     
  • Try to schedule trip mid-week when fewer people are traveling.
     
  • Bring small pillow or cervical collar for naps.
     
  • Do range-of-motion exercises on the bus and at rest stops to avoid stiffness.
     
  • If traveling with an aide, ask about the two-for-one fare.
     
  • Ask whether wheelchairs must be collapsible for storage.
     
  • Obtain an advance travel schedule and make any necessary hotel accomodations.
