Parenting Perspective:
Dressing

by Dianne Witter
Reprinted from Arthritis Today

Try the closures on baby clothes before you buy them. Polyester zippers with pull loops may be the simplest. If you can't find choices that seem workable, replace snaps or buttons with Velcro for easier dressing. (That idea also works well for shower or new-baby gifts.)

Don't worry about trying to keep shoes on babies who don't walk. When babies need shoes, consider purchasing those with Velcro closures.

Make getting dressed a pleasant experience for your child. Try not to become rushed, and talk to your child as you change his clothes. An unhappy, screaming toddler can kick hard enough to hurt. Try to wait until the child is ready to cooperate.
