Career

Part of having a successful life is having a successful work experience. This is true whether you work inside or outside the home or if you have a traditional salaried work or if you do volunteer work. The hardest part is figuring out what you want to do and how you can find an outlet that will allow you to do it.

Arthritis can bring additional challenges to your job search. You may require special accommodations to perform your job. Insurance issues may be more of a concern for you. You might need to work reduced hours. And then there is the issue of if, when and how you should tell your boss or your co-workers about your condition.

Don’t let your arthritis keep you from having the career you want. People with arthritis do everything people without arthritis do. It is how they do it that differs. Learn what you can do, where to find help and how to handle your illness.

Focus your daily 10-minute meditation on your career. What do you enjoy doing? What are you physically capable of doing? What hours or days do you feel the best?

Make a list of potential careers based on your interests and abilities and start down the road to a successful and satisfying career. Don’t forget to come to the Arthritis Foundation for help.
