Research Update

 January - February 2006

From the Chair,
Medical & Scientific Advisory Council,
Philip L. Cohen, MD

This first issue of the year of Research Update begins with a look back at the Arthritis Foundation’s Top 10 Arthritis Advances of 2005. It is always a pleasure to look at how far we’ve come in our understanding and treatment of arthritis from one year to the next and to look forward to the changes ahead.

Just as the articles in this issue demonstrate how research is always evolving, so is the way the Arthritis Foundation wants to communicate its research successes to you. In 2006, the Arthritis Foundation has created the full-time position of Research Communications Specialist – someone whose sole purpose is to better get the word out on the great research advances being done by AF-funded researchers.

As we search for the right candidate for this position, now is the opportunity for you, the Research Update reader, on how you’d like to receive research information. What appeals to you about Research Update? What would you like to see more/less of? What do you want to read about? How else can the Arthritis Foundation provide research information to you?

Your opinion is very important to us. Please share your ideas with Bethany Afshar at the National Office at bafshar@arthritis.org or 404-965-7621.
