Grants For Exercise Programs
AFNC invites proposals from organizations interested in offering free classes of any of the following AF programs:
- Arthritis Foundation Exercise Program® – low-impact land exercise program with seated, standing and optional floor exercises. Addresses the pain, fatigue and decreased strength that often accompanies arthritis. One hour class must be offered twice a week.
- Arthritis Foundation Aquatic Program® – a low-impact water exercise program that uses water’s buoyancy to not only assist with exercises but also to protect joints. Improves and sustains participants’ joint functionality, muscle tone, endurance, independence and self-efficacy. One hour class must be offered twice a week.
- Arthritis Foundation Tai Chi Program® – based on the Sun style of tai chi. This style includes agile steps and exercises that improve mobility, breathing and relaxation. One hour class must be offered twice a week.
- Arthritis Foundation Walk with Ease Program® – a structured six week community-based physical activity and self-management education program that can be done by individuals on their own using the program’s workbook or by groups led by trained leaders. One hour class must be offered three times a week.
These programs are stand-alone/may not be folded into other classes. Non-AF programs are not eligible.
