Programs for Better Living from the Arthritis Foundation

The Programs for Better Living offers an array of exercise and education programs documented to reduce arthritis pain, ease daily activities, and improve general health status. Every program is taught by an Arthritis Foundation certified instructor. The series includes an in-depth education program along with exercise programs for a variety of fitness levels and interests.

As the national authority on arthritis, the Arthritis Foundation is in a unique position to present programs nationwide that make a vital difference in the lives of people with arthritis. The New York Chapter is pleased to offer these enjoyable and highly effective programs in YOUR community.

Arthritis Foundation Aquatic Program
Combines the buoyancy of water and the soothing warmth of a heated pool to create a safe, ideal environment for relieving pain and stiffness through exercise. Gentle movements increase joint flexibility while restoring or maintaining muscle strength. Host sites are members of the Arthritis Foundation Aquatic Alliance.

Arthritis Foundation Tai Chi Program
Brings the gentle, graceful, flowing power of Sun-style tai chi to your community. This joint-friendly exercise program, developed by a physician and tai chi master, will both relax you and increase your mental and physical energy. Host sites are members of the Arthritis Foundation Exercise Alliance.

The Arthritis Foundation Exercise Program
Offers low-impact exercises that can be done either sitting or standing to help relieve stiffness and pain and to build strength and stamina. The class was developed by physical therapists specifically for people with arthritis or related conditions.

Walk with Ease
Arthritis Foundation’s six week Walk With Ease program teaches you how to safely make physical activity part of your everyday life. Studies show that this walking program is proven to reduce the pain and discomfort of arthritis, increase balance, strength and walking pace, Build confidence in your ability to be physically active and improve overall health. Walk With Ease is offered as a self-guided course or in a community setting. Choose the format that best suits you.
