Victory in Montana! Governor Bullock Signs Biosimilar Substitution

On February 27, 2017, Governor Steve Bullock signed House Bill 233, sponsored by Representative Ron Ehli, into law! This new law will require pharmacists, when substituting a patient's biologic medication prescribed by their doctor with an interchangeable biosimilar, to communicate the change to the patient and their doctor. The Arthritis Foundation is excited about the possibilities that new, innovative biosimilars can provide to people with arthritis. This new law ensures Montana patients have proper communication about their medications when interchangeable biosimilars enter the market.
