Innovative Research Grant- Arthritis Foundation Research Grants Request for Applications
For more than six decades, the Arthritis Foundation (AF) has dedicated itself to finding the causes and effective treatments for osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis and juvenile arthritis. The ultimate goal is to find a cure.
We are the largest, non-profit contributor to arthritis research in the world, funding more than $411 million since the 1950’s. The statistics are staggering. According to a study by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 50 million Americans now suffer from arthritis, an increase of four million in just four years. By 2030, the number is expected to climb to 67 million. The impact of the disease is equally devastating – costs from lost productivity and direct medical spending is now at $128 billion annually.
The Arthritis Foundation has a long history of investing in young and promising researchers and clinicians to attract new investigators to the field of arthritis research and to ensure that research progress continues over the long term. For many years, this extremely competitive program has funded the best and the brightest -- and has launched the careers of many of today’s leaders in the field.
Each proposal is competitively ranked based upon scientific impact and merit. In a typical year, over 120 scientists from around the U.S. apply for funding, with the top 20-30 selected for Arthritis Foundation support
Our donors become partners in our work to understand why arthritis develops, who is at risk for developing it, and what are the most effective treatments to stop its progression.
