WHY

We are celebrating Rick and Peg Breon for their passion and involvement in many local community organizations; and Rick for his vision and leadership as President and CEO of Spectrum Health since 2000. During his tenure, Spectrum Health has built an unparalleled health care infrastructure with its partners – the Grand Rapids Medical Mile.

The Arthritis Foundation and Spectrum Health have a shared mission of improving lives by easing pain and suffering, creating better and new treatments and breakthroughs in research, restoring mobility and wellness, and partnering with families to provide empowering programs and information. In 2007, the pediatric rheumatology specialty was added to Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital, making it much easier to treat some of the 10,300 children in Michigan who have Juvenile Arthritis.

Funds raised will support critical research into the prevention, control and cure of arthritis, and provide public educational forums, advocacy, a residential summer camp for kids with JA, and numerous Life Improvement exercise programs and educational classes for the one in three Michigan residents who have one or more forms of arthritis.
