ADMIN ASSISTANT- RICHMOND, VIRGINIA

The Admin Assistant position is responsible for providing a wide range of operation and administration management and support duties. Position requires extensive proficiency in using all facets of Microsoft Office Suite, database management and website creating, updating/support. Must be numbers and detail oriented and be creative with project work. Must be resourceful, an independent thinker, and self-sufficient as well as self-motivated.  Able to multi-task and manage multiple projects within given deadlines. Works with the Development and Program staff closely on marketing and event planning.

Position Qualifications

  • AA/BA in Business Administration preferred or 3-5 years of progressively responsible administrative experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Excellent computer skills including all MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) required.
  • Experience with database management
  • Must be a self-starter with excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a talent for customer service.
  • Must be efficient with strong attention to detail.
  • Must have strong customer support orientation (for internal/external customers), demonstrated professional demeanor, and the ability to maintain confidential information.
  • Must have strong skills in organization and planning, demonstrated ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment and problem solving.
  • Proven ability to manage projects.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, exercise sound judgment and confidentiality in maintaining sensitive information.   Internet savvy.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.

DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT - RICHMOND, VIRGINIA

Reporting to the Senior VP of Fund Development, the Director of Development will collaborate with local volunteers and community leaders to deliver mission and fundraising initiatives, work with members of the senior leadership team to achieve region goals for fundraising, community outreach, and volunteer recruitment, develops relationships with key business, civic, political and professional leaders and individual major gift donors throughout the designated area toward advancing the mission of the Foundation. In addition, the Development Director will assist his/her direct supervisor with the creation of an annual field-office fund-raising plan and assist in establishing the long-range fund-raising direction of the region, and execute the local development program and fulfill its objectives. Assists in recruitment of volunteers for area-specific fund-raising/subcommittee assignments and trains volunteers and local staff in the proper techniques for raising funds. 


The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in business or related fields required. Minimum of seven (7) years demonstrated, successful, non-profit experience including fundraising, community and corporate development, volunteer and committee development, and staff management. Successful experience in developing six-figure special events, including walks, galas and golf tournaments. 
Successful experience in recruiting corporate sponsorships and involvement in fund development special events, as well as in recruiting companies and organizations to sponsor third party events/promotions to benefit a charity. Working knowledge of major and planned gift fundraising a plus. Travel within the area boundaries and occasionally within the Mid-Atlantic Region required.

ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT - BALTIMORE, MD AREA

The Associate Director of Development is responsible for assisting in planning, organizing, directing special events in the assigned territory of the region.

Relationships and Contacts
The Associate Director of Development  maintains a close working relationship with the Director of Development for direction regarding local fund-raising activities.  Contact with Field Office Staff and volunteers to coordinate fund-raising events.

The Associate Director of Development  maintains relationships with local business and community leaders, media representatives (in coordination with the VP of Communications) to promote area fund-raising activities.

Position Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree plus one to three years successful fund-raising experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills, and excellent organizational skills. 
  • Must have experience with all aspects of a comprehensive fund-raising plan including special events, planned giving marketing, corporate development and direct marketing.
  • Strong presentation skills, including demonstrating verbal and written communication skills.
  • Successful internal and external collaborations and partnership development experience.
  • Must be results-oriented with experience working with and through groups to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Travel may be required.
  • Any other duties assigned.
