Faces of Arthritis

Think you know the face of arthritis?
Take another look.

Sabrina ThomasSabrina Thomas, one of our Joints in Motion honorees, is just one of the 46 million Americans affected by arthritis. Sabrina was diagnosed with Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis (JRA) when she was only 6 years old. She has systemic onset, which means it affects her entire body. Until she was eight, Sabrina spent most of her time hospitalized. What she struggles with is more than just her pain. She has an active mind and wants to be able to do the things children do. Your participation would help people like Sabrina and improve their quality of life.

The perceptions about arthritis vary, but the numbers don't lie:

  • There are more than 100 forms of arthritis
  • Nearly 50 million Americans have arthritis
  • 300,000 people with arthritis are children
  • Arthritis is the nation's number one cause of disability
  • Arthritis costs the US economy nearly $86.2 billion annually
  • Arthritis affects one in four Americans. That one could be you, your neighbor, a co-worker or family member.

Becoming a Joints in Motion participant allows you to honor someone living with arthritis, increases awareness of this disease and helps raise millions of dollars for arthritis research and educational programs. Please contact us to make a difference.
