About Us

OUR CAUSE:

Over 50 million Americans (1-in-5 adults) and 300,000 children are affected by the chronic pain and disability of arthritis or a related disease.

OUR MISSION:

The mission of the Arthritis Foundation is to improve lives through leadership in the prevention, control and cure of arthritis and related diseases.

The mission is achieved through focus on three areas:

* Research grants to find a cure for arthritis
(More than $400 million in research grants have been provided since 1948)
* Public Health Programs
(including certified exercise programs and educational seminars); and
* Advocacy at all government levels on behalf of people with arthritis.

HISTORY:

The Arthritis Foundation was formed in 1948. In 2010, the Delaware, Maryland, District of Columbia (DC), Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina Chapters joined together to become the Arthritis Foundation, Mid Atlantic Region.

SERVICE AREA:

The Mid Atlantic Region serves more than 5.7 million people with doctor-diagnosed arthritis residing in Delaware, Maryland, DC, Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina. The Mid Atlantic Region is one of ten geographic regions within the country.

OFFICES:

The Arthritis Foundation national headquarters is located in Atlanta. The Mid Atlantic Region has offices in Baltimore, Maryland, Washington, DC, Richmond, Virginia, and Charlotte, North Carolina and has branch offices in Delaware, Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina.
