Important Update
Arthritis Foundation Self-Help Program

The Arthritis Foundation Heartland Region will no longer offer the Arthritis Foundation Self-Help Program.   The Arthritis Foundation Self-Help Program originally developed by Dr. Kate Lorig has undergone several revisions in 2011 resulting in significant changes in how the Arthritis Foundation is able to offer the program.  Beginning in 2011 the Arthritis Foundation Self-Help Program will be renamed to “Arthritis Self-Management Program” (ASMP) and will require a licensing fee for use of the program.   At this time the Arthritis Foundation has two alternative options for this program:  the Arthritis Self-Help Tool Kit or the Chronic Disease Self-Management program.  The Arthritis Self-Help Tool Kit is available for purchase at our online store and is designed to assist individuals to manage their arthritis.   The Chronic Disease Self-Management Program is very similar to the Arthritis Foundation Self-Help program.  This program meets for 2 hours once a week for six weeks in a group setting; however, it includes all chronic health conditions.  For more information on CDSMP you can go to http://patienteducation.stanford.edu/programs/cdsmp.html.   If you have any questions, please feel free to contact a program staff member at your local office.
