Campers at the Heartland Region’s two summer camps, Camp Spirit and Camp JAM, participated in a letter writing project. These letters asked Members of Congress to cosponsor two pieces of legislation: HR 460 (Patients’ Access to Treatments Act) and HR 1827 (Pediatric Subspecialty Loan Repayment Program).

The letters reached 24 Members of Congress from 8 states! One success story to note: a week after letters were mailed in Iowa, Congressman Latham (who received 7 letters) signed on as a cosponsor of HR 460! This success story was possible due to our ambassadors’ work throughout the year with his office and the advocacy letters sealed the deal.
