Welcome

Welcome to the Idaho website of the Arthritis Foundation,Great West Region.  We are committed to raising awareness and reducing the unacceptable impact of arthritis, which strikes one in every five adults and 300,000 children, and is the nation’s leading cause of disability. To conquer this painful, debilitating disease, we support education, research, advocacy and other vital programs and services.

Throughout May, the Arthritis Foundation urges taking action to change the course of arthritis. From participating in a nearby Arthritis Walk, to improving your health through fitness and nutrition, to speaking out about the seriousness of arthritis – there's a lot you can do to raise awareness and reduce the impact of the nation's leading cause of disability.

Arthritis Symposium

The 5th annual Arthritis Symposium on May 5, 2012 at St. Alphonsus McCleary Auditorium was a great success with over 130 individuals in attendance. Keynote speaker, Sandi Falkenhagen, Chair of the national RA Alliance, was a great inspiration to the attendees. Rheumatologists, orthopedic surgeons, and others shared practical tips for living well with arthritis.

Thanks to everyone who made this great event possible.

Post Falls Senior Center is offering a free 8-week series of Tai Chi for Health classes.

Tai Chi is a slow moving, meditative exercise that has been shown to reduce the risk of falls, decrease stress, reduce joint pain, and increase strength and flexibility. Dr. Paul Lam, an Australian family physician and Tai Chi gold medalist developed the Tai Chi for Arthritis form in conjunction with rheumatologists and physical therapists. The program has been endorsed by the Arthritis Foundation as a safe, effective way to improve mobility and overall fitness.

Contribute to the Cause

The Arthritis Foundation's Hope Through HeroesSM is a memorial and tribute site dedicated to people who live with and have lived with arthritis or chronic joint symptoms. This is a place where you can honor or commemorate the life of a friend or loved one by sharing their inspirational stories of hope.

There are many different ways to support the work of the Arthritis Foundation...gifts of cash, real estate, securities, and personal property. You can also help by contributing a planned gift. Bequests (gifts made via wills) are one of the Foundation's most vital sources of income. Memorial and/or honor gifts in the name of friends and relatives are a thoughtful way to remember someone special.

Please contact Eric Campbell for more information .
