Irish America’s Cup

October 4-6, 2007

Starting in the late 1980s, teams of golfers from Ireland and America have been coming together every year in a special trans-Atlantic spirit of fun and philanthropy.

The annual Irish America’s Cup takes place every fall at the beautiful Chateau Elan Golf Complex and Resort in the North Georgia mountains. With approximately 75 teams participating from both Ireland and the United States, all proceeds benefit the Arthritis Foundation in the U.S. and the Multiple Sclerosis Society in Ireland.

Since its creation in 1989, the Irish America’ Cup has raised over $1 million for these two fine organizations.

Tournament play takes place over three days on all three Chateau Elan courses (Chateau, Legends and Woodlands), with a shotgun start in the afternoon of the first day and daily prizes awarded at the completion of play. There are buffet breakfasts, sumptuous dinners and entertainment. At the end of the tournament all players are invited to attend an awards reception and buffet where trophies (Waterford Crystal, of course!) are presented to the top teams on both the U.S. and Irish sides, as well as to the overall Irish America's Cup winner.

The Beneficiaries

Arthritis Foundation (U.S.): The mission of the Arthritis Foundation is to improve lives through leadership in the prevention, control and cure of arthritis and its related diseases.

The Multiple Sclerosis Society (Ireland): The Multiple Sclerosis Society provides assistance to MS sufferers through care programs, and supports research into this disease.
