There Are Many Faces of Arthritis

In fact, you probably know one or more, because arthritis strikes 50 million Americans. That’s one in every five adults who lives with debilitating pain. Arthritis is not just a disease that impacts seniors; it attacks people of all ages. Two-thirds of people with arthritis are under the age of 65—including some 300,000 children who have arthritis and aren’t able to fully enjoy their childhood.

That is why the Arthritis Foundation is committed to raising awareness and reducing the unacceptable impact of this serious and painful disease, which is the nation’s number one cause of disability. We lead the way in helping people with arthritis live better today and create better tomorrows through new treatments, better access to health care and, ultimately, cures. The Arthritis Foundation funds life-changing research that has restored mobility in patients for more than six decades, fights for health care policies that improve the lives of the millions who live with arthritis, and partners with families to provide empowering programs and information.

Meet the many faces of arthritis, learn about the challenges this disease poses, and find out how we are making a difference in their lives.
