Programs and Services
In addition to the
following, you can also find brochures, books, newsletters and videos in our online store!
Kids On The
Block Puppet Programs
Many Arthritis
Foundation chapters have trained Kids on the Block puppeteers who present programs in
schools for grades K-5. Using life-size puppets, they teach kids about juvenile arthritis,
emphasize barrier-free friendships and concentrate on what a person can do rather than
what they cannot do.
For more information
about Kids on the Block, check with your local office of
the Arthritis Foundation or visit the Web site http://www.kotb.com.
Camp Diversity:
Where Differences Are The Same
Camp Diversity is a
disability awareness education program designed to increase understanding and acceptance
of people with disabilities. Camp Diversity is a joint effort between the Arthritis
Foundation and the Girl Scouts of the USA.
To learn about Camp
Diversity activities scheduled in your area, please check your
local office's page on this Web site or call the Arthritis Foundation office nearest
you.
Juvenile
Arthritis Awareness Week
Juvenile Arthritis
Awareness Week (JAAW) is an educational awareness program designed to increase students'
understanding of arthritis and arthritis-related conditions. Many of the Arthritis Foundation's
local offices lead a week long
awareness effort focusing on elementary, junior high and high schools by offering a
variety of programs, including lesson plans for teachers, brochures, posters and a
coloring book for younger kids. This awareness effort kicks off each year during the first
week of March. Please check your office's page on this
Web site or call the office nearest you to find out about JAAW activities and resources in
your area.
If you would like
more information about these programs or other
services and products for children with arthritis and their families, please contact
