Who is at risk?

It is estimated that one million people in the United States have Paget’s disease. It is more common in people older than 50 years and its prevalence increases with age. Men are about twice as likely to develop the disease as women. People of Northern European descent have the highest incidence of disease; it is reported less frequently among blacks and rarely in Asians.
