Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (Lupus)
in Children and Adolescents

Diet
There is no special diet for lupus. Eating a healthy, balanced diet is always the best.

However, if you take steroids, you should be eating foods low in salt to help prevent high blood pressure and low in sugar to help prevent diabetes.

Small and frequent meals may help with overeating. Not having fattening foods in the house, and eating plenty of fruit and vegetables helps also.

This is a family affair and everyone has to help.  Fortunately, what is healthy for  a person with lupus is good for everyone.
