The Arthritis Foundation offers many opportunities to serve on various committees - from programs and services to special events! If you are interested in helping out the day of an event, staffing a booth at a local health fair, or getting more involved with a committee, we have the right volunteer position for you.

Volunteer Opportunities at the Arthritis Foundation
The Arthritis Foundation, Western Missouri/Greater Kansas City Chapter has several positions available for individuals interested in volunteering.
Please review the list below and contact the Arthritis Foundation at 913-262-2233 and let us know which position you are interested in assisting with and we will work with you to volunteer in that position.
Support Group Leader:Volunteers who are interested can assist with or set up their own Arthritis Foundation Support Group. Support groups provide education and information to support group members. Certification from the Arthritis Foundation is required.
Arthritis Foundation Exercise Program (fka PACE): Individuals interested in leading a gentle land-based exercise class are needed to offer classes for people with arthritis. Leaders must set up their own class location and Arthritis Foundation certification is required.
Arthritis Aquatics Exercise Leader: Individuals who are interested in leading a gentle water exercise class are needed to offer classes to people affected by arthritis. Leaders must set up their own class location and Arthritis Foundation certification is required.
Health Promotions Committee Member: Volunteers are needed to work with a committee in the planning and implementation of educational programs and events throughout the year. A background in fitness or health education is helpful, but necessary.
Health and Wellness Fair Volunteer: Volunteers are needed to represent the Arthritis Foundation at health and wellness fairs throughout the Kansas City metro area. Fairs can take place during the week or on weekends.
Arthritis Advocate: Individuals are needed to write and call lawmakers about legislation that affects people with arthritis. Arthritis Foundation staff provides training and tips.
Arthritis Walk Committee Members: Volunteers are needed to coordinate neighborhood walks. The role of the volunteers will be to assist at the day-of activities and coordination. Training, some materials and Arthritis Foundation staff support are provided. Committees are forming now. The 2008 locations will be Warrensburg, Springfield and Kansas City, MO.
Jingle Bell Run/Walk Committee Members: Volunteers are needed to work with a committee to recruit sponsors and volunteers as well as take care of logistics for this event. The Jingle Bell Run/Walks will take place in several locations in the Arthritis Foundation chapter area including Kansas City, Lee's Summit, Kansas City North, and Springfield, MO. Committees will begin to form in July for the 2007 events in December.
Youth & Young Adult Committee Member: Volunteers are needed to work with a committee in the planning and execution of programs for children and young adults affected by arthritis.
Golf Tournament Committee Members: Volunteers are needed to recruit golfers, event volunteers, and sponsors for the second annual Arthritis Foundation Golf Tournament. The golf tournament will take place on October 8, 2007 at Lions Gate.
Sponsor Recruitment: Volunteers are needed to recruit and develop relationships with potential sponsors for Arthritis Foundation events and programs. This can be done from the Arthritis Foundation office or from home. Training, resources, and materials are available from Arthritis Foundation staff.
Joints in Motion Recruiter: Individuals are needed to recruit Joints in Motion participants. Joints in Motion is a fundraising marathon-training program. Resources, training and Arthritis Foundation staff support are provided.
Joints in Motion Participant: Joints in Motion participants are needed to raise funds to support the work of the Arthritis Foundation. Participants receive a marathon training, lodging and travel to one of several marathons if they reach a set fundraising goal. Domestic and international marathons are available.
Office Volunteer: Volunteers are needed to help out in the office with a variety of tasks including labeling, mailing, new member phone calls and other projects.
Jingle Bell Run/Walk Team Captain: Individuals are needed to recruit team members to participate and raise funds for the 2007 Jingle Bell Run/Walk. The events will be held in Kansas City, Lee's Summit, Kansas City North, and Springfield, MO. These events take place in late November to early December.
Penguin Paddle Team Captain: Individuals are needed to recruit team members to participate and raise funds for the Penguin Paddle 2007. The Penguin Paddle is a fundraising swim that will take place during summer 2007.
Auction Item Recruiter: Volunteers are needed to request auction items for Arthritis Foundation special events. This can be done from the Arthritis Foundation office or from home. Training, resources, and materials are available from Arthritis Foundation staff.
Car Show Committee Member: Volunteers are needed to recruit sponsors, volunteers and auction items for the Arthritis Foundation Car Show. The Car Show will take place June 23, 2007.
Golf Tee Off Party Committee Member: Volunteers are needed to work with a committee to recruit volunteers, sponsors and auctions items for the Tee-Off Party for the second annual Arthritis Foundation Golf Tournament. The Tee Off Party will take place on October 7, 2007 at Lions Gate.
Flyer Distributor: Volunteers are needed to distribute flyers in various location provided by the Arthritis Foundation for upcoming programs and events.
Public Relations Committee Member: Volunteers with interest or experience with public relations are needed to work with a committee to create and manage Arthritis Foundation awareness initiatives.
Home Labeling/Mailing Projects: Volunteers that would like to help out occasionally when time allows. The Arthritis Foundation has many mailings and labeling projects that can be done from home or in the office.
"On Call" Volunteers: Individuals that want to be notified of a variety of volunteer opportunities and want to help out on an as needed basis.
