Welcome!
Welcome to the Western Missouri/Greater Kansas City Chapter
...where approximately 660,000 men, women, and children are affected by arthritis and related diseases. This chapter encompasses 50 counties in the western half of Missouri and includes Johnson and Wyandotte Counties in Kansas. Educational brochures, a physician referral list, exercise classes and support groups are some of the services offered to our community.
Arthritis Self Help and Education
Arthritis Education Day
Knowing about your disease, the treatments available, and self-management techniques, makes you a more informed, more in-control patient. Arthritis Education Day provides one-stop shopping for both the newly diagnosed patient and the established patient who may be looking for new information on how to better manage their disease. Registration fee of $5 includes lunch.
Come meet us at the Kauffman Foundation in Kansas City from 9:30am to 3:00pm on Saturday May 31. Registration begins at 8:30am.
Kauffman Foundation is at 4801 Rockhill Road, Kansas City, Missouri.
Arthritis Foundation Self Help Classes
This six week program gives participants the tools they need to better manage their disease through a series of six, two hour small group classes. Past attendees report improved understanding of their disease, better control of their pain, and fewer and more productive doctor visits.

Art for Arthritis
This year's Art for Arthritis was a record-breaking success! Thank you to everyone that came to the H&R Block headquarters to help raise $60,000 for research for a cure for arthritis. Our silent auction this year had more items with more bids than in years past, and our live auction of artwork made by children with arthritis was more successful than ever before. Almost $10,000 was raised for scholarships to send people with arthritis from our chapter to the upcoming national Juvenile Arthritis conference.

Warrensburg Walk
Walkers from all around Central Missouri gathered in Warrensburg Saturday morning to walk in support of arthritis research for a cure. About 200 walkers raised $25,000. Thank you to everyone who came out and had a good time!

Get your company involved or recruit friends and family members to form a team. Best of all, walk in honor of a loved one with arthritis and know you're making a difference by raising funds to support Arthritis Foundation research, public health and public policy efforts to improve the lives of people with arthritis.

Advocacy
A delegation of Missourians joined more than 400 others from across the country to converge on Washington D.C. for the Annual Arthritis Advocacy Summit. Our delegation of volunteer advocates joined three chapter staff members from the Heartland Region and called on the offices of each of the Missouri Congressional Representatives and Senators to ask for help with passage of the Arthritis Prevention Control and Cure Act, which is before both the House and the Senate.
