               Volunteer Spotlight

Meet Andrew Manson, a 13 year old eighth grader at Chancellor Middle School in Spotsylvania.  When Andrew is not busy launching his own web-design business, he is working hard to stomp on arthritis.

Andrew's dedication to the Foundation began when he met a child with juvenile arthritis (JA).  As team captain of the Fredericksburg walk team "Little Lorraine's Angels," in memory of his great-grandmother,  he has raised $2100 over the last three years.  Andrew is also the chairman of the kid's corner at the Fredericksburg Walk ensuring that the littlest of our volunteers have fun on walk day.  His awareness and fundraising efforts are known throughout the community.  He has been recognized by the United Way of Rappahanock for being an outstanding volunteer and awarded a scholarship from Kohl's Department Stores.

Andrew's mother, Kathy states, "his passion, goals and desires are truly admirable. He sets a goal and works extremely hard to achieve it."  Andrew has achieved a lot for the Fredericksburg Walk, from securing in-kind donations of products and services from area businesses, to a share the profit fundraiser with a local skating rink to  having Applebee's donate food for a post-walk celebration.  We can't wait to see what he will do for the 2010 Fredericksburg Walk!
