You may think that exercise and arthritis do not go hand in hand. If so, you would be mistaken. Research has shown that exercise is an essential tool in managing your arthritis. Regular, moderate exercise offers a whole host of benefits to people with arthritis.  The Arthritis Foundation recognizes these benefits, and has created an exercise program to help you take advantage of these potential health improvements called the AF Life Improvement Series.

AF Life Improvement Series exercise classes are offered throughout the state.  To see the list of all classes currently being offered click here, or contact us at 1-800-442-6653 for more information.

The Life Improvement Series includes two evidence based exercise programs - the AF Exercise Program and the AF Aquatic Program.  Evidence shows that these programs help patients reduce pain and activity limitations due to arthritis. Mainly, exercise reduces joint pain and stiffness, builds strong muscle around the joints, and increases flexibility and endurance.  It also helps promote overall health and fitness by giving you more energy, helping you sleep better, controlling your weight, decreasing depression, and giving you more self-esteem. Furthermore, exercise can help stave off other health problems such as osteoporosis and heart disease. Whatever exercise program you decide on you should always consult with your doctor before starting out.

Take an active approach to managing arthritis with our Arthritis Foundation Exercise Program .  Our trained instructors will assist you in a program designed to improve joint flexibility and range of motion.

Or join our Arthritis Foundation Aquatic Program. Aquatic programs allow you to exercise without putting excess strain on your joints and muscles.
