Welcome!
The Tennessee Chapter of the Arthritis Foundation serves all 95 counties across the state and is actively working to better the lives of the 1.3 million adult Tennesseans (and an estimated 6,000 children) with this disease. In fact, 46 million adults and approximately 300,000 children nationwide, have been doctor-diagnosed with a form of arthritis. We have three area offices located in Memphis, Nashville and Knoxville. Juvenile Arthritis Awareness
The Arthritis Foundation is devoted to serving the special needs of children, teens and young adults with childhood rheumatic diseases and their families. Right now, there are nearly 300,000 children in America with some form of arthritis or rheumatic disease, some 6,000 right here in Tennessee. There are 8.4 million young adults nationwide between the ages of
18-44 who have arthritis and millions of others at risk
for developing it.
While there are some issues that are shared by everyone with arthritis, its impact on school, social life, family relationships, dating, sports, and almost every other aspect of an active, growing young person's life raises special concerns. New coping skills for living with the everyday challenges of arthritis must be learned. Teens and young adults entering the workforce have new issues to face.
Join your local Tennessee offices with activities to raise awareness for juvenile arthritis during the months August, September and October. Please contact your Chapter office to find out more about juvenile arthritis initiatives during these months at 800-454-4662.

Tennessee Arthritis Action Plan
Arthritis prevalence in Tennessee ranks among the highest in the nation. It is estimated that 1.3 million, or one of three adults in Tennessee, have some form of arthritis. The Tennessee Arthritis Action Plan (TAAP) will serve as a framework for arthritis prevention and education efforts in Tennessee. The plan reflects the need to build the systems and networks necessary to address the burden of arthritis in Tennessee.
