Research
The Arthritis Foundation is the largest private source of local and national research funding for scientists and doctors seeking treatments and cures for arthritis and related diseases.
Almost $700,000 in arthritis research grants were awarded this year to local medical and research institutions. Click here for a list of 2009/2010 research grant recipients. Click here for the latest news in arthritis research.
Youth Programs
Arthritis affects more than 300,000 children in the United States. The Southern California Chapter sponsors four children's camps that are exclusive to children with arthritis and related diseases.
- Family Camp, Lake Hughes, California
- Camp Esperanza, San Bernardino Mountains, California
- Camp Sol, Southern Nevada
- Camp Manaolana, Hawaii
These camps provide children with the first opportunity to meet others who share their experiences, and feel stronger and energized as a result.
You can help in the fight to find a cure for arthritis.

Let\'s Talk RA
Effective communication with your doctor is a key part of managing your rheumatoid arthritis (RA). "Let's Talk RA" offers you the opportunity to take the first step to find your voice for better health. During the Town Hall, speakers will discuss the importance of improved physician-patient communication, disease management, and making healthier lifestyle choices. Attendees will have a valuable opportunity to get answers to their questions from a prominent local rheumatologist during the Question & Answer portion of the meeting.

For the Ride of a Lifetime

The Arthritis Foundation's Amgen California Coast Classic Bicycle Tour is a scenic bike tour that shadows the Pacific from San Francisco to Santa Monica. Rugged coastline, quiet beaches, lighthouses, giant redwood forests, famous wineries and world-class cities are yours to enjoy for each of the tour's eight days. Cyclists begin the 525-mile ride at San Francisco's famous Fisherman's Wharf on September 25th and end triumphantly in Santa Monica on October 2nd. Along the way, they are fully supported, being served fantastic meals and staying in stunning overnight locations. As our cyclists like to say, "This is the ride of a "lifetime."
Recruitment for the California Coast Classic is underway. To learn more about the 2010 Arthritis Foundation Amgen California Coast Classic Bicycle Tour, please visit www.californiacoastclassic.org.
