Research

Among volunteer health agencies, the Arthritis Foundation is noted nationally and internationally for its “gold standard” peer review process. All grants funded by the National Arthritis Foundation or by the Rocky Mountain Chapter are scored and ranked in this peer review. The highest scoring research project proposals are funded, limited only by the research budget available in that given year. The quality of research is such in the Rocky Mountain Chapter that many grant proposals receive funding from the National Arthritis Foundation.

Volunteers between the ages of 50 and 85 years are invited to participate in a research study that will examine the effectiveness of a progressive rehabilitation program on recovery following knee replacement. Potential volunteers must have osteoarthritis and be candidates for TKR. Volunteers will be asked to participate in 6 testing sessions over 1 year, each lasting about one hour. IN addition, volunteers will receive free home and outpatient physical therapy and must be willing to participate in physical therapy sessions 2-3 times/week for 3 months. Financial compensation is available for participation in this research study.
