Programs
The Arthritis Foundation Aquatics Program (AFAP) allows you to exercise without putting excess strain on your joints and muscles. The gentle activities in warm water, with guidance from a trained instructor, will help you gain strength and flexibility. Participants enjoy decreased pain and stiffness. Swimming is not a prerequisite.
The Arthritis Foundation Exercise Program (AFEP) is an exercise program designed specifically for people with arthritis that uses gentle activities to help increase joint flexibility and range of motion while maintaining muscle strength and decreasing pain. Exercises can be done standing, or sitting in a chair.
The Arthritis Foundation Tai Chi Program is designed to improve the quality of life for people with arthritis using the Sun style Tai Chi, one of four major recognized styles of Tai Chi. This styles includes agile steps and exercises that may improve mobility, breathing and relaxation.
