Arthritis Isn't Scary Highlights

Thank you to everyone who joined us at Arthritis Isn’t Scary. We had 87 parents, children, staff and volunteers in attendance; our largest Arthritis Isn’t Scary group yet! Activities included trick-or-treating around the office, fun games, and a spooky haunted house. A special thanks to the Colorado Taekwondo Institute for the awesome demonstration.

We hope you had a happy Halloween!

Dr. Hollister Wins National Arthritis Foundation Award

Dr. Roger Hollister is the 2009 recipient of the Earl Brewer Award for physician leadership. The award is presented to a physician who has fostered a reputation for excellence in his or her field; developed an approach or strategy in research service in pediatric rheumatology that is considered a model approach or system by his or her peers, can be replicated by other professionals and that has an impact on his or her local care system; and has been involved with patient care and been an advocate for children with rheumatic disease.

For the past 25 years, Dr. Hollister and his wife Joan have led a group of dedicated volunteers in organizing the Juvenile Arthritis Camp in Estes Park. Together with their volunteers, trained health professionals and other experienced adults who provide critical support and supervision, they provide a unique and memorable camp experience for over 50 children ages 8-16 each summer. 2009 marked the 26th anniversary of this camp.
